Activity 3 january 28 2010

Today we discused input and output devices such as keyboards and TVs. We also discussed operating systems and networking applications. Then we made a blog. In this blog we found pictures or took screen shots of the input and output devices, Operating systems, and networking applications.

Journal/summary activity two jan 26

I am going to find the 7 defintions of a osi-tcp. Then i will have a chart explaining it and a summary also explaining it.

Defintion

OSI Physical- The Physical Layer is the first and lowest layer in the seven layers of the OSI models. It defines the eltrical, mechanical, and other things. It transmits raw bits rather than logical data packets over a physical link connecting network nodes.

Data Link- The data link transits data accross a physical link. The data link is used with the physical adressing and flow control.

Network- This is a layer that provides connectivity on geographically driverse networks. It is concerend with the Ip.

Transport- This layer segments data into a data stream. It provides establishment, maintance and information flow.

Application- This layer is closest to the user. Provides networking to the users applications also it does not provide service to any other OSI

OSI

In the OSI reference model, there are seven numbered layers, each of which illustrates a particular network function. It describes a method of how information or data moves from one computer to another computer. It also is considered the best tool available for teaching people about sending and receiving data on a network and provides a framework for network discussions.

Conclusion

In Activity 2 we had to get a graphic of the OSI-ICP Comparrison charts. We had to define the 7 layers of the OSI. I am looking foward to the second semester of learning in this class.
